During a trip to Australia, I was lucky enough to have the experience of a lifetime aboard the SV Whitehaven, a 3-day, 2-night adventure to the heart of one of the world's most magnificent sites: the Whitsundays archipelago. The SV Whitehaven, a 17.5-meter sailing yacht, is the ideal choice for this unforgettable getaway. It can accommodate up to 23 passengers, each with a single bed. I invite you to discover the itinerary I experienced in the heart of this earthly paradise, departing from Airlie Beach, Australia.
Day 1 - Whitsunday Island
The trip began with a visit to Whitsunday Island, the largest of the 74 islands that make up the Whitsundays archipelago. After a hike through the forest, complete with historical information on the area, we reached the top of Inlet Hill, offering a spectacular panoramic view of Whitehaven Beach. We had the pleasure of contemplating this most incredible place for 3 hours. We lounged on one of the world's finest sandy beaches, swam in the crystal-clear water and watched majestic rays glide gracefully through the water.
Back on board, we enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by the crew before continuing the evening with some fun bonding games.
Day 2 - Nautical activities and sunset
When we woke up, we were greeted by the rising sun, and a succulent breakfast with a breathtaking view of the ocean. Our second day was devoted to water activities, with a stop at Blue Pearl Bay on Hayman Island, a jewel of the Great Barrier Reef. We had the opportunity to snorkel among colorful coral gardens and a variety of fish.
After a well-deserved lunch aboard the sailboat, we explored another magnificent site by combining snorkeling and a kayak excursion before concluding the day with a sunset picnic from a secret beach. My favorite part of the day!
Day 3 - A secret paradise
Before finally turning back to Airlie Beach, we had the opportunity to visit a surprising little island, accessible only at low tide. It's the perfect place to swim with turtles, kayak, observe a bird sanctuary and soak up the sun on the white sand. It's definitely an unusual place that I loved discovering.
A trip aboard the SV Whitehaven to the Whitsundays archipelago is an unforgettable experience, combining adventure, relaxation and exploration of the Australian wilderness. This maritime escapade has given me lasting memories of one of the most beautiful and unspoilt places on the planet. I hope you too will experience this unique adventure on a trip to Australia, where every day brings its own share of wonder and discovery.
