MAGDALEN ISLANDS GETAWAY
Jennifer, our ambassador, decided to stay in her province area for a week-end getaway, more precisely in the Magdalen Islands. This blog will certainly convince you to visit this magnificent place! As I look out the window, seeing the blue water, magestic deep red cliffs and the all so colorful little houses, I'm instantly overwhelmed with excitement. The wheels touch down on the Magdalen Islands and I know I've chosen the perfect destination for my weekend getaway. It's raining so we decide to venture off to Havre Aubert Island to grab a bite. Some shopping was planned afterwards. Our first stop is at Cafe de la Grave where I order a delicious sea food pot pie. The ambiance is unique, welcoming with beautiful artwork from local artists hanging on the walls. The day is not complete without some shopping in the quaint little boutiques. I'm surprised and delighted with what I find here. One of the boutiques is owned by a local cartoonist, who sells comic books, jewelry, artwork, refined chocolates and many more diversified local products. I decide to splurge and buy myself a sea shell sand sculpture from l'Atelier Côtier. The next few days on the archipelago are mostly spent exploring, enjoying the beautiful scenery and meeting locals. No matter where you meet the Madelinots, you will be delighted by their warm welcome cute accent. There are so many activities and things to do on the islands that it is sometimes hard to choose from: relaxing on the beautiful beaches (my favourite being Sandy Hook beach), enjoying local dishes, doing arts and crafts circuit, visiting local farms and many different outdoor adventures, like stand up paddleboard, kitesurfing, cycling, hiking, horseback riding, boat excursions, marine wildlife watching and more. Sweater: JOGTank: EKOShorts: WUUPants: MAT My favourite part of the trip is by far a paddleboard excursion with Cindy Hook. The local owner, Cindy, is so energetic, upbeat, and she also shares her experiences. The direct access to a shallow lagoon makes it the ideal spot for beginners. I also highly recommend visiting her shop. One cannot visit the islands without stopping at the local microbrewery L'Abris de la Tempête. Their beer offers a strong brewing uniqueness as they make their beer using local resources. My personal favourite is the Terreferme, a delicious IPA. As my trip comes to an end, I take avantage of my last day to go to L'Étang-du-Nord, which is a must visit during your stay, as this is where you'll witness the most gorgeous sunsets overlooking the ocean. Be extremely careful since erosion is not always visible and can be very dangerous. Stand at least 3 meters (10 feet) from the edge of the cliff when you walk there. So grateful and privileged on this getaway, as the Magdelan Islands is the one place that time truly stops. I enjoy the present moment and go with the flow of things. It's uniqueness and serenity vibe is why I call this little island paradise. One doesn't need to travel far to get that true sense of adventure... as this beautiful archipelago is in my home province of Quebec. Whether you arrive by plane or boat, all means are good to access Les Iles. Both Air Canada Express and Pascan have daily flights. During high season, Air Canada Express even offers a direct flight from Montreal. Another option is via ferry but even these have to be booked in advance. I highly recommend booking your accommodation or mode of transportation as early as possible, as the island gets very busy with tourists. From July to September, things fill up very quickly.

3 PLACES TO LEAVE YOUR HEART IN PORTUGAL
Discover Portugal through the eyes of our ambassador Késia. This is the first destination of her world tour. Let’s say she is off to a pretty good start! This land of western Europe, located near the cradle of the Mediterranean, is most travelers daydream. It is beyond all expectations that I am committed to become a most curious adventurer for the three weeks I will spend in this country. Therefore, it gives me a slight place in your life to open three separate doors to Portugal, three places to share with you where I left my heart ... LA PRAIA DA URSA Direction: the west. It is at the most western point (Cabo de la Roca) that is this fairy beach, so beautiful that I needed to pinch myself to bring me back to reality. It is sourrounded by tones that go from turquoise to pink, that you can walk on the trails of the cliffs hedge. Cliffs that are up to 140 meters above the Atlantic Ocean. A little further, I watch a couple taking pictures with balloons while admiring the breathtaking panorama in front of me. Located 42 kilometers from the capital of Portugal (Lisbon), Praia da Ursa is the subject of many photographers from all over the world. SUGGESTION: prepare a picnic and spend the day there to discover every nook and cranny. This site is appreciated by nature lovers and photographers. The entrance is free and therefore, accessible to all. THE DOURO VALLEY If the desire to be in a mountainous region is felt, why not stroll the winding roads of the Douro Valley? Declared World Heritage by UNESCO, it is a vast landscape and a most popular destination. You will find vineyards, a small authentic village named Pinhão as well as companies that create port and offer tastings to visitors. SUGGESTION: the valley is beautiful when the road is made by car, because the perspective of the river from the top of the valleys is sensational. There are also different types of packages offered (directly from the city of Porto) by boat for people who do not necessarily have access to a car. However, we must remember that the pollution of the river due to too large a mass of tourists who opt for the maritime voice is a reality. For the sake of protecting the environment, I recommend you go for carpooling as I did, if possible. SINTRA I think that Sintra is really a must in Portugal for several reasons: to go back in time and stroll through its narrow streets lined with ancient fortifications, explore the different palaces and castles, enjoy a good meal in one many restaurants on the mountainside for a 180 degree view, get lost in the huge gardens and why not try the tuk-tuk (transportation) to get to the top of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. SUGGESTION: If your goal is to visit one or more palaces / castles, I strongly suggest you buy your tickets online (internet) to avoid the lineup once there. In addition, if you want to take photos with as few people as possible in your focus, I advise you to be there 30 to 45 minutes before the opening, as it is a popular tourist site. The opening time of all palaces / castles is at 9:30 in the morning. In the end, it was very difficult to summarize my favourites of Portugal, because there are so many beautiful places to admire! If I may, I would add that the Algarve region (the southern part of Portugal) is really a must. The beaches are fabulous, the colour of the water is beautiful, the old cities are full of life and colourful and the Portuguese are very nice. My favorites for this region are: Lagos, Albufeira and Tavira. I hope this article has been helpful and inspiring to you. GALAPAGOS: WALKING IN DARWIN’S FOOTSTEPS
Article 1/2 Our Marketing Manager went to the remote Ecuadorian archipelago, full of endemic species all more surprising than the others! This year, I had the great opportunity to visit a place that fascinates me since I was a child. Mysterious, wild, iconic, the Galapagos Islands are a paradise for the animal lover I am! I had the chance to visit three islands: Santa Cruz, Isabela and San Cristóbal in the two weeks I spent there by traveling by boat and by plane. A LAND OF REPTILES When the young naturalist Charles Darwin visited the Galapagos Islands in 1835, he discovered species found nowhere else on Earth. In addition to the famous finches that inspired his theory on the evolution of species, he observed a great variety of giant tortoises. Each one has physical characteristics peculiar to its respective environment. For example, the tortoise above has a domed shell, suitable for an environment where vegetation is abundant and accessible. The tortoise below has a saddle shaped shell, rather suitable for a diet located at height. This shape has inspired the name of the archipelago because of this singular form. I have to admit that they are very impressive in real life. I could never have imagined that they were so imposing! I have often seen terrestrial iguanas during my travels, but marine iguanas can only be found on the Galapagos Islands! These nice prehistoric reptiles are literally everywhere! Their ancestors, that arrived from the mainland a long time ago, had to adapt because of the lack of food, which led them to feed on the seaweed that grows in the rich and salty waters. THE SEA "DOGS" The waters surrounding the islands are relatively cold and are home to a diverse fauna, thanks to the Humboldt Current, which is full of nutrients that it transports from Antarctica. This marine wealth allows many species to proliferate. Among them, let's mention the famous hammerhead sharks and tiger sharks. However, the undisputed masters of the shallow waters are, without a doubt, these adorable Galapagos sea lions! During the day, it is possible to observe an impressive number of these basking in the sun! If you have the opportunity to dive with them, you will undoubtedly be impressed by their agility and playful spirit! COHABITATION IN ALL THIS? Before I landed, I confess that I was curious to know how the population of the habited islands coexisted with this omnipresent fauna. I was very pleased to see that Ecuadorians seem particularly proud of their unique wildlife! They protect and cherish it with exemplary respect! At the port of Puerto Ayora, fishermen raise their nets of the surrounded by sea lions, pelicans, frigates, herons and so on! GALAPAGOS: WHAT TO SEE AND WHAT TO DO
Article 2/2 Our Marketing Manager shares her favourite things to do and to see in the Galapagos Islands! Besides the observation of fauna and flora, the subject of my last article, I propose here other activities that I particularly recommend! Even after spending two weeks in the archipelago, I admit that I would have been happy to stay a little longer. I would have liked to spend more time on each of the islands I visited and have the time to visit others! SIERRA NEGRA VOLCANO Located on the island of Isabela, the Sierra Negra is a huge shield volcano, one of the most active in the archipelago. Despite its recent eruption in June 2018, it is possible to visit it. The expedition includes a walk around the crater, but it is really when you reach the section where the lava flow has spread that the landscape changes! A landscape of desolate, with black and oxidized hues. A visit that makes us aware of the fragility of our environment and of the mighty power of nature. To make the most of your day, I recommend bringing with you: sunscreen, not to be neglected although it always rains at the top, water, a great pair of hiking shoes and walking sticks! You do not have walking sticks? The Montrealer company Location Backpack rents them at great prices! A DAY AT THE BEACH? If you want to cool off, there are many options! However, to reach some of them, you’ll have to work hard to enjoy the relaxation! TORTUGA BAY This is the case of the magnificent Tortuga Bay that you see above. A white sand of incredible finesse and softness, warm and translucent water! I assure you that this beach is worth the 2.5 km walk! Here is the path that will take you to paradise! For this walk, I recommend again a lot of water and comfortable clothes. This is why, I had chosen the GAX drirelease® TENCEL® top, which protected me from the sun and kept me cool and dry! It does not appear on the picture, but the heat and the sun were particularly overwhelming that day! LAS GRIETAS Still on the Santa Cruz Island, it is possible to go to Las Grietas after a water taxi ride and another walk. You will discover a crevasse surrounded by high cliffs where the water is very calm. It offers an absolutely magnificent view of a hundred feet long! BEACHES EVERYWHERE! Want to stay a little closer to the city? Many beaches are only a few minutes walk away. This is the case of this one on the island of Isabela where I stopped a few minutes. You may have noticed that I'm wearing my favourite item, the ZAZ Jumpsuit! This article has really been a must for this trip. Always rolled-up in my backpack, I could quickly put over my swimsuit for an improvised drink in a restaurant. During my transfers and my stopovers, I was reassured to know that this single article could suit me in all circumstances if my suitcase would gotten lost! CANOE-CAMPING DESTINATIONS THIS SUMMER
Our ambassador, Jessica (from Nomade Magazine), presents her two favorite canoe-camping destinations to enjoy the summer. When it’s summer time, I want to live as many experiences in nature as possible. Quebec is full of beautiful places to discover! No need to leave our beautiful province to fully enjoy summer vacation. A few years ago, I discovered canoe-camping and since then, it has been the type of getaway that I want to experience every summer season. Here are two places that I had the chance to discover and that will surely please you if you love to merge with the wilderness. THE VALLÉE BRAS-DU-NORD Located in Saint-Raymond, this paradise for outdoor enthusiasts has a lot to offer. You can go on a two-days canoe-camping trip including, of course, a night of wild camping. During this 17.5-kilometer trip on the Bras-du-Nord River, you’ll discover absolutely beautiful landscape while lulled by the sounds of the surrounding forest. Once you reach the 6th kilometer, it is possible to dock your boat to take a break for a break on land. Then, you have to admire the impressive Delaney Falls, the perfect spot for a picnic. Then, if you want to push your adventure further, I recommend hiking to the belvedere of the refuge Yourte Delaney to get an incredible panorama of the surroundings. Once your tent is up at the edge of the river, it is good to relax on the dock to admire the stars appear one by one. This campsite is totally wild so make sure to bring enough water for your stay. Note that it is not possible to bring your dog on board, but if you only want to go camping, it is possible to bring it with you. I loved wearing my FIG clothes that kept me comfortable on this adventure. REGIONAL NATURAL PARK OF PORTNEUF This time, I bring you near Portneuf, where we find a vast territory of magnificent landscapes. Several options are available to you to take advantage of all that the regional park of Portneuf has to offer! After your canoe-camping day, you have the opportunity to choose between a campsite with complete facilities or to do wild camping, several kilometers away from the 1st option. Since I like challenges, I decided to paddle under the hot summer sun a little longer to get to my destination. On my way, I was able to cross the long lake and take a break on a small beach to eat and admire the surrounding beauty before crossing the Black River. Once at the campsite, the view was so inspiring that I decided to rock in my hammock before enjoying a comforting meal over a crackling fire. You should know that there is a pump on site to get water. Do not forget to boil it before using it. For those who love to explore Quebec with their dogs, this park welcomes man’s best friend with open arms, whether aboard the canoe or anywhere else in the park! Luckily, I had my OTH pants to protect me from mosquitoes at the end of the day and to keep me warm at nightfall. These two locations are easily accessible and offer unforgettable panoramas! Take advantage of Quebec's diversity to discover remote forested places that will lead you to live unique adventures and recharge your batteries.

GOING FOR A HIKE WITH WILD OSTRICHES With its various relief, this country offers gorgeous trails providing panoramic views for walkers of all levels. Keep in mind that the world's largest land bird roams freely in South Africa. Be vigilant on the road, the passages of ostriches are frequent! BEACH TIME WITH AFRICAN PENGUINS Enjoy an relax in the sun on one of the many beautiful beaches of South Africa. If you visit the famous Boulders Beach, near the capital Cape Town, keep your eyes opened: you may be visited by an African penguin! SAFARI WITH THE BIG 5 What could possible be better than a safari to complete your adventure in South Africa? Several national parks, including the famous Kruger National Park, will allow you to observe from up very close, and in a single day, the famous Big 5: lions, buffaloes, elephants, rhinos and leopards. Admire the "law of the jungle" to its most natural aspect!

DISCOVER THE AMAZON WITH FIG
Our ambassador, Jessica (from Nomade Magazine), makes us discover the Amazon. A trip to the Amazon means adventure, heat and an extraordinary experience. After visiting the capital of the country, I had the chance to spend 4 days in the incredible rainforest of Ecuador near Tena. Despite all the physical activities and the changing weather, I remained comfortable at all time thanks to my choice of clothes. Since I know that I am not the only one who loves the outdoors and adventure travel, I thought it would be a good idea to share my 5 favourite clothes for this trip with you. IXU DRESS As my trip began in the mountainous Quito, I faced temperatures ranging from 18 to 25 degrees. I wanted to wear something cute and comfortable to melt with the beautiful surroundings of the capital, that's why I chose the IXU dress that has kept me warm thanks to its long sleeves. I felt comfortable walking through the different streets of the old city and I loved the convenience of small zip pockets hidden inside larger pockets on each side below the belt. This dress is a real favourite! FIZ TUNIC AND OTH PANTS To reach my host family's home in the Amazon, I had to take a bus for a 5:30 trip to get to Tena and then a taxi. I easily get cold when there is air conditioning in transport so I thought it was perfect to wear the FIZ tunic and the OTH pants on the bus. Both garments are made from very soft materials and offer a style that is both casual and stylish. I also appreciated the flexibility of my clothes that made dealing with my travel bags easy and efficient. I also wore these pants several times in the evening once in the Amazon to avoid mosquito biting my legs. WUU SHORT AND GAX TOP Once settled in the jungle, I was fortunate to experience a variety of activities such as hiking in the forest, climbing waterfall and rafting. For each of these activities, I had the pleasure of wearing the WUU shorts and the GAX shirt for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised by the comfort of these 2 pieces, despite being soaked from head to foot 90% of the time. I even sometime thought to be protected from the water until I felt its effect on me. I had no trouble swimming at the bottom of a waterfall and walking in the forest for over an hour afterwards. It is also with great satisfaction that I enjoyed a delicious meal between two rafting descents dressed in the same clothes without the urgent need to change. At the end of the day, I just rinsed off my t-shirt and shorts and hung them outside for a quick drying. I hope these recommendations will guide you for your next adventure trip preparation. It is always reassuring to know that it is possible to live in different situations comfortably thanks to a good selection of your clothes.
