Recycled Polyester
Did you know that 35 billion plastic bottles get thrown away every year in the United States alone? Unfortunately, many plastic bottles wind up in landfills or our oceans, and they can take up to 1000 years to degrade.
At FIG, we are committed to keeping our land and oceans clean, so that future generations are able to explore and appreciate the natural wonders of the world. This is why many of our garments are made with recycled polyester instead of regular polyester.
Polyester is made from post-consumer plastic bottles, which are transformed into recycled polyester yarn.
First, plastic bottles are sorted, washed, and chopped into flakes. The clean flake is blended, melted, and turned into recycled chips, and then loaded into silos. The chip then enters their state-of-the-art extrusion and texturing process and gets transformed into fibres.
These fibres are then used to create high quality & performance eco-friendly fabrics and apparel that you will find in our collections.
